In Between Prayers

In Between Prayers premiered at STUK Leuven. It is a memory of fragments from another life. The piece explores the religious transitions in my family, where five of the six children in my mother’s Flemish household converted to Islam. Today, that faith lies behind them, but as the daughter of a Flemish mother and a Malian father with an Islamic background, I still carry that history with me.With the voices of my mother, my aunt, and myself, I bring pieces of that shared past to life an encounter between two worlds.

VOI(X)E is a hip-hop dance creation that starts from a simple but urgent question: how to find your place in a world that feels both overstimulating and distant. Rooted in hip-hop culture, the work explores the search for connection with others, with a community and with oneself.

The project brings together women from Brussels’ underground hip-hop scene, whose different practices shape a shared and evolving language. VOI(X)E unfolds as a series of states rather than a linear narrative, where meaning emerges through presence, proximity and time.

The choreography explores the tension between individuality and being together. Moments of unison appear as fragile and temporary, constantly shifting between connection and dissonance. Sound, created in dialogue with movement, plays an active role in shaping the performance.

VOI(X)E creates a space where vulnerability, ambiguity and care can coexist, inviting the audience to experience connection as something fluid and unresolved.

Bare Feet

Bare Feet premiered at the Freestyle Lab Festival in 2024. 

It is a solo performance combining dance, audio, and spoken word to explore both personal and universal struggles. The performance focuses on the experiences of a Black woman growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood, while also addressing the broader challenges people face as they mature. The piece examines identity, vulnerability, upbringing and relationships conveyed through movement and poetic expression.

It delves into the balance between strength and fragility, while highlighting the struggle to remain authentic in a world full of expectations

Réduction à la séduction

Réduction à La Séduction is a performative installation in which I combine textile, dance, and sound. I question the meaning of the skirt and its relationship to the woman’s body. The skirt becomes the soundscape for the performance, creating a new layer of meaning. Dance and sound hold equal weight, they move together, shifting how the skirt is seen, heard, and felt.​

REDUCTION TO SEDUCTION

In my performative installation 'Réduction à La Séduction' I combine textiles with dance and sound. I question the meaning of the skirt as a concept and its relation to women.

The skirt creates the soundtrack for the performance and takes on a new meaning.
